A polyleader is an extension of your fly line acting as a leader. The butt section of the polyleader is usually around the same diameter as your fly line. Most have a loop at the thick end allowing quick change between different leaders. The purpose of the polyleader is to transfer the energy from the cast and unroll and straighten your leader as it hits the water. This gives your fly a much better presentation and a higher chance of a fish taking. Many people use polyleaders due to them being durable, having a low memory and having a shock absorber. All of these features help the angler tremendously in their pursuit of their target species. Polyleaders come in a range of lengths and sizes all the way from 5ft to 13ft. This covers all types of fly fishing from small trout on a stillwater all the way up to large salmon on a river. As well as the lengths, polyleaders come at different sink rates such as floating, intermediate and sinking. This allows you to fish at different depths but still at the same length. Here we are proud to stock the highly acclaimed Airflo polyleader which is possibly one of the best in the world.
