Shakespeare Fly Rods

Shakespeare Fly Rods

The Shakespeare Fishing Company was founded by William Shakespeare Jnr, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA in 1897.   William found fame by introducing an early ‘Backlash’ braking system on his ‘Wondereel’ which firmly put Shakespeare on the fishing map.  Not to be outdone, his son Henry, later developed and introduced  the ‘Wonderod’.. one of the first crop of fishing  rods to utilise glass fibre.
From these early beginnings, Shakespeare subsequently became a household name in the fishing world and have been making outstanding value fishing rods and other tackle ever since.
Their fly rods are renowned for offering amazing quality at realistic prices and their own Fly Lines were so well admired, many other leading Brands asked Shakespeare to make theirs too.

More recently, Shakespeare has joined the Pure Fishing Group and new investment in technology and innovation maintains the Shakespeare tradition and reputation.
