Based in Cortland, New York, the Cortland Line Company started off by producing silk fly lines in 1915 and then patenting the Cortland fly line. Later on after the war they started producing braided fly lines, which set the benchmark quality that still stands today. Since then Cortland have changed the face of fly lines many times with there different ranges including the 333, 444, 444SL and the 444 lazerline. With this expertise and history it was inevitable that Cortland would branch out into other aspects of fly fishing and produce rods and other tackle. Similarly, to their lines, their rods are made of the highest quality but still for a reasonable price. Performance is a great attribute to Cortland results, with a modulus blank which can be weighted perfectly to the casting fly angler.
