Veniard Fly Tying have been supplying top quality fly tying materials to the world since the 1920’s when Ernest and Frank Veniard started collecting feathers from London poultry markets for hat mounts and brooches.
That in turn led to limited supplies for fly tyers but that side of the business grew and by the mid 1930’s, the Veniard brothers produced their first fly Tying Catalogue. By the start of WWII, Veniards already had a great reputation for supplying top quality fly tying materials.
The late 1940’s saw a big rise in the leisure industry and this, combined with greater access to trout fishing by the general public led to a boom in fly fishing and fly tying. This boom actually led to a shortage of home grown fly tying materials and forced the company to look overseas for supplies.
The 50’s & 60’s saw Veniards continue to grow, and as well as supplying some of the world’s best natural fly tying furs and feathers, Veniard were quick to see the opportunities for using the myriad of Synthetic materials that could be utilised in fly tying.
Veniards have also been pro-active in designing and supplying innovative fly tying tools and fly tying vices and remain one of the top fly tying suppliers in the world.
