Lureflash was founded in the late 1970’s by John & Steve Gross who were avid fly fishermen who tied and dressed their own trout and salmon flies. In doing so, they realised that there was a huge surge in the development of ‘modern’ fly patterns but a fairly limited supply of synthetic fly tying materials on the UK fly tying scene.
They thus began to source a wide range of synthetic materials from around the world and also began to produce and develop their own. They then added fly tying vices and a wide range of fly tying tools to their material range. The company grew to such an extent that they subsequently acquired their own fly tying factory in Kenya and to this day still manufacture hundreds of thousands of trout, salmon and predator flies.
The fly tying materials continued to grow and Lureflash introduced the amazingly successful ‘Fritz’ into the UK. This very vibrant, very sparkly pearlescent chenille-type yarn took the fly tying scene by storm and practically all fly tyers the world over now know what Fritz is and more importantly, how many fish it accounts for!
Lureflash continued to grow and gradually added a full range of fly fishing tackle including fly rods, fly reels, fly lines, leaders, clothing and accessories, which they continue to supply today.
